embroiderer, showed a 'magnificent mantle drape’ and a view of New Norfolk on a terra-cotta plaque in 'Class B’ (watercolour and oil paintings) at the art exhibition organised by monsieur Maurice at Launceston in 1885. Miss T. Graves exhibited three crayons in 'Class H’ (drawings in pencil and crayons), which the Examiner critic (18 December 1885) thought looked like watercolours. The artists were presumably Abigail, née Porthouse, the second Mrs John Woodcock Graves senior , and one of her daughters.
