painter, described as 'a woman without arms or legs, who used her mouth, guiding the pencil with her shoulder’, painted a watercolour Portrait of a Lady which was lent to the Ballarat Mechanics Institute Exhibition in 1863 by Mrs A. Turner. The artist may not have been colonial.
