Description

Florabotanica features the work of 8 SA artists: Morgan Allender, Nic Brown, Katia Carletti, Chris de Rosa, Helen Fuller, Lisa Young, Angela Valamanesh and George Zacharoyannis. The exhibition explores the manner in which each of these artists is inspired and responds to the botanical world in their practice. Their work covers a variety of mediums, from painting and drawing to sculpture, ceramic, and installation.

Description

New work by nine contemporary Australian artists, Morgan Allender, Troy-Anthony Baylis, Domenico de Clario, Siamak Fallah, Lisa Gorton, Julie Henderson, Brigid Noone, Lee Salomone and Sera Waters, presented ‘in conversation’ with objects from South Australian museums and archives, provide ranging responses to Australia’s colonial past. Works include projections, soundscapes, sculpture, painting and performance set within a purpose-built space.

Grounded includes the work of Nic Brown, Cathy Frawley, Sally Parnis and Lyn Wood.

Drawn to the landscape, it becomes not so much a subject for their work as a site for exploration. Each in her different way weaves the complex relationship between mind, body and the environment and creates portals for the viewer.
