professional photographer, operated a photographic firm in Adelaide from 1867, having worked in partnership with Charles Hanssen at Kapunda, South Australia, earlier that year. Advertising his new Adelaide studio at 113 Rundle Street in 1869, he stated: 'so much depends on a judiciously lighted studio, and the use of Superior Apparatus, that Mr. Hartitzsch has devoted much time, experience and expense to obtain these essentials, and the support with which he is favoured shows how his efforts are appreciated’. The studio survived until about 1883.
