Self-described “Gamilaraay Murri Yinarr” (Gamilaraay Aboriginal Woman), Patricia Sharp is from the Bara-bee-dee Aboriginal Mission north of Coonabarabran, NSW. Despite moving with her family at a young age to the South Coast of NSW, Sharp maintained annual visits back to Bara-bee-dee and Coonabarabran and it was on these visits that she was inspired to paint, encouraged by her grandmother and her high school art teacher.

Sharp herself is now a visual art teacher and her paintings, works of acrylics on canvas, “use contemporary Aboriginal designs”, according to her artist statement in the 2007 Parliament of NSW Indigenous Art Prize catalogue.
