Born in New Zealand, Pauline Adair moved to Australia (Sydney) in 1970 where she worked as the Advertising Manager of a national retail chain for twenty years. In 1990 she relocated to Queensland and focused on developing her artistic interest.

Having no formal art training, Adair exhibited in galleries and art shows around Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast, winning over forty art awards for portraits, landscapes and figurative works, including Redland Shire Council Special Award and Acquisition 1993; Oxlades Pastel Award 1995; 1st Prize Figures/Faces Coffs Harbour City Exhibition 1996; Peoples’ Choice Pine Rivers Art Awards 2001; 1st Prize Pastel Maleny Art Awards 2001; Pastel Award Caloundra City Arts Festival 2005; Oil Award Caloundra City Arts Fest 2006; 1st Prize Human Figure Kenilworth Art Show 2006 and Pastel Award Gympie Gold Rush Exhibition 2006.

Adair works in the media of watercolour, pastels or oils as well as charcoal, inks, or textured acrylic. She has explored the figure and portraits in her art extensively and has been commissioned to paint personal nude portraits.
