Robert Farnham, or Robbie, as he is known, is a Gunai/Kurnai man who has lived in East Gippsland all his life. Farnham is named after his father Robert Farnham Senior. His mother is Wilma Hood.

He works in a range of media including painting, artefact making, drawing and wood burning. Having first learnt how to make and decorate boomerangs while attending Bairnsdale Primary School (known locally as 754), as an adult Farnham began working with young people, teaching them artefact making. He assists in guiding the program participants through all aspects of artefact making from identifying appropriate pieces of wood for clap sticks, spears, boomerangs or nulla nullas through to decorating a finished product.

Farnham is known for his detailed and original designs applied to artefacts and featured in his painting. He uses his art work as a means to connect with his culture.
