Robert Jesse (1931–) graduated from Sydney Technical College in 1954 and was registered with the NSW Board of Architects the same year. While a student he worked with Harold Smith, then continued after graduation and became Smith’s partner around 1963. In 1976, they took as new partners John Hunt and Lindsay Payne, who had been in a separate partnership together. This firm became known as Smith Jesse Payne and Hunt (later SJPH Architects, then Designinc Sydney). Jesse retired from the practice in 1997.
