Magazine and advertisement illustrator who joined the West Australian Newspapers as a cadet in 1928. As part of his course he attended Perth Technical School under J. W. R. Linton and A. B. Webb. He was also trained by Percy Stanwat-Tapp at the newspaper. He served four years in the Australian Infantry Forces in New Guinea and the Pacific theatre. He was a member of 'The Studio Group of Six’ who exhibited together. They were all members of the Western Australian Newspapers art staff and had at least five group exhibitions in the 1950s at Newspaper House Gallery. The group included Paul Rigby, Stewart Cownie, Clem Ambler, Fred Harffey and Athol Snook.
