Rubina Burgoyne was born in 1960 and is a decendant of the Mirning people of South Australia. She studied for a Certificate in Koori Art and Design at the Ballarat TAFE College (Victoria). It was here she helped paint a TAFE bus (belonging to the Applied Science Department) along with Steve Morvell, Julie Palmer and Dianna Nikkelson.

In 2006 she was associated with Kuju Aboriginal Arts and Crafts of Port Lincoln, South Australia and through this association participated in the 2006 Our Mob exhibition at the Adelaide Festival Centre.
