A Warlpiri speaker, Ruth Napaljarri Oldfield lives in Yuendumu and has been exhibiting with Warlukurlangu Artists since the 1986 show at the Editions Gallery in Perth which marked the first major critical and commercial success of the Yuendumu painters. Her work was reproduced in the catalogue of the Dreamings – Art of Aboriginal Australia exhibition which toured North America in 1988-9 and shown in Portsmouth, England in 1987, and Seattle and Los Angeles, USA in 1988. In Australia she has shown with Warlukurlangu Artists in Perth, Alice Springs, Adelaide, the Gold Coast, Canberra, Melbourne and Sydney. She was one of 42 Yuendumu artists who worked on a 7 × 3 m canvas which toured European cities in 1993 as part of Aratjara – Australian Aboriginal Art .
