Stan Symonds (1933–) graduated from Sydney Technical College in 1956, after having worked part-time for Rudder, Littlemore & Rudder, AW Cozens and Buchanan Felton & Lovell. He set up his own practice designing and building houses. In 1963-1964, he was a part-time design lecturer with the University of NSW and he also gave guest lectures at the NSW Institute of Technology. He designed more than 70 projects; mainly houses and small commercial or multiple housing blocks, but also some ceramic murals for shopping centres. He went to Europe in 1974 for six months and returned there in 1976.
