Harrop was an important figure in the Sydney Super 8 scene making a number of influential works using found footage and image+sound manipulation techniques. He studied graphic design at Randwick Technical College, and Photography and Film at the City Art Institute (now the College of Fine Arts, UNSW).
We wrote, prduced and directed Rocky Star (together with Stephen Fearnley and Andrew Traucki). In 1982 he worked with Fearnley on the Super 8 film Down Diablo Way.
Throughout the 1980s and 1990s he whas worked as an editor for broadcast television. His works were regularly shown throughout the 1980s as part of the Super 8 Film Festival, and was an enduring influence on the Metaphysical TV group.
