sketcher, modeller and plumber, showed an untitled watercolour at the 1861 Victorian Exhibition in Melbourne. He was described in the catalogue as an amateur painter of the Royal Hotel, Chewton. He also showed seven electro medallions in copper made from 'Plaster Casts in Wax, by Smee’s Process’, and therefore seems to be the Thomas Johnston who was subsequently in partnership with Dods as 'engineers, plumbers, gasfitters, &c.’ of 74 Collins Street East, Melbourne. There is some speculation that Johnston might also have been known as T.E. Johnston.
