Tinsley Hayward was born in Katanning, Western Australia. He grew up on a West Australian Aboriginal Reserve and would often watch his uncle Bevan and brother Everard paint.
Hayward works a landscape painter using mostly oils and acrylics. He takes inspiriation from his travels within Australia and is also influenced and inspired by the works of fellow Western Australian painters Lance Chadd and Athol Farmer. Like them, he has no formal training in his oeuvre.
Hayward is associated with Mungart Boodtja Art Centre in Katanning, where he lives.
