scenic painter, town crier and bellman, worked in Rockhampton. His caricature by L.M. Martin (either in the UCQ or Rockhmpton Historical Society) is dated 1878. Lorna McDonald notes that Bevis Street, Rockhampton, is named after him. 'He was not only town-crier and bellman, but also a noted scenic painter. It was said of him that he would paint anything, anywhere, anytime’ ( Evening News 23 January & 13 February 1932).
