Born near Lake Mackay in Pintupi country, his family came in to Balgo in WA where Tony grew up, moving to Kiwirrkura in the mid ’80s when the settlement was established there. Here he began painting in the late ’80s, his work depicting Tingari stories from around the area of Lake Mackay and influenced by the 'linked dotting’ style of many Balgo artists. His painting of Nyuntjuri , a Storm Dreaming site associated with storms and lightning, was featured on the catalogue of Friendly Country, Friendly People (Araluen Arts Centre, Alice Springs, 1990).
