Born c.1932 of the Warlpiri tribe, lives at Yuendumu. Her country is Warlukurlangu, south-west of Yuendumu and her Dreamings are Warlukurlangu (Fire) and Yankirri (Emu). She began painting in the late ’80s, first exhibiting with Warlukurlangu Artists in August 1987. Since then, her work has been included in many Warlukurlangu group exhibitions in capital cities around Australia, in Mythscapes , at the National Gallery of Victoria in September 1989 and in lt é Australien , Musée Fabre, Montepellier, France in June 1990. Uni Martin was one of 42 Yuendumu painters who worked on the 7 × 3 m canvas which toured Europe in 1993 as part of Aratjara: Art of the First Australians .
