Scottish born Francisco Alexander arrived in Western Australia in 1840 with his wife and baby. She died in 1851 and he married again in England in 1853. He was a storekeeper and owner of the Crown & Thistle Hotel in Fremantle, 1841-1849. It is not known if he was the maker or merely the owner of a sea chest-of-drawers in the Western Australian Museum in Fremantle. He made frequent voyages so it was a necessity.
