Alexander Sadlo is a modernist painter, ceramist, enameller and jeweller who fled from the Communist regime in post-war Czechoslovakia, migrating to Australia and settling in Adelaide in 1950, where he lived for more than two decades before moving to the UK.

National Collection (now Artbank) This painting was destroyed in a bombing when on loan to the Australian Embassy in Beirut. The artist repainted it in 2006.
