A Sydney-based craftworker and Watercolourist, Alice Baily Alford’s work featured in the Adelaide Jubilee International Exhibition in 1887 where she presented designs for embroidery and linoleum patterns. In 1889 she Exhibited in the RAS as well as the Art Society of NSW Autumn Exhibition of watercolours and black-and-white drawing ( Sydney Morning Herald , 1 April 1889, p.4). For the 1892 Exhibition of Women’s Work in Sydney she showed two watercolours: no.61 Flowers, Blackberries and no.62 (competitive) Interior of Holy Trinity Church. This show also featured Oil Paintings – no.1 Shells, Flowers, no.120 – Design for Tiles, Hearth (for competition and sale) and no.121 Design for Lace, Azalea, & c.
