André Brodyk is a bio artist and lecturer whose practice has centred on recombinant DNA technologies and processes and the use of living material as new art processes and new art media. He has completed a Masters of Fine Art and PhD at the College of Fine Arts, UNSW. In 2002 he participated in the 'BioFeel’ exhibition at the Biennale of Electronic Arts Perth (BEAP). At this time he was investigating the use of synthetic DNA via art based encryptions. He has undertaken research in a microbiology laboratory at University of Newcastle, and in 2002 he was an artist in residence at the SymbioticA research laboratory at the University of Western Australia, Perth.
