Commercial artist and designer, who studied at Perth Technical School c1936-38, served in World War II becoming a prisoner-of-war. According to Norman Aisbett, Mulgrave had been taught to engrave by a German guard while he was in a prisoner-of-war camp and this skill led to his subsequent career as a designer of jewellery. After World War II he went to work for Caris brothers as a jewellery designer and became a partner in the firm.
