Anthony White b.1976 National Art School (Painting) Sydney. He immigrated to Paris, 2009. He was the recipient of The Gruner Prize for Landscape Painting 2005 (AGNSW) and The Marten Bequest Travelling Scholarship 2007. Solo exhibitions include Paris Paintings-Iain Dawson Gallery (2010) Scratching the Surface (2011) and Informal Relations (2013) The Cat St Gallery Hong Kong.

Anthony White is an Australian artist based in Paris, France. In this body of work,'Scratching the Surface’, which White created while on a residencey in Leipzig, Germany in early 2011, the artist explores notions of colour, tension between materials and the abstract concept of space and form.

This exhibition was made in residence at Australia’s Storrier Onslow Studio, at the Cite Internationale Des Arts, Paris. This studio award, enable me to paint and live in Paris for three months.

The architectural surfaces of Paris are laden with centuries of graffiti, posters, filth and humanity. The works draw upon these references and the sense of transience, the passing of time, the organis and the antique’
