Antonia Blaxland was born into a prominent Sydney family whose friends included the photographers Olive Cotton and Max Dupain. Blaxland worked as an apprentice with Dupain before establishing her own successful career as a professional photographer, capitalising on her family's connections to secure a range of high profile commissions that included interior designer Marion Best and Beatrice Bligh.
