South Australian born artist who was active during the interwar years. After a successful early career in Adelaide, Boxall travelled to London in 1926 and studied under Henry Tonks and Wilson Steer at the Slade School of Fine Art. The artist returned to Australia in 1930 after painting in England, Egypt and Fiji. Upon his return to Australia, Boxall lived in Sydney and taught art at the East Sydney Technical College. Suffering from tuberculosis (TB) he resigned from his teaching post in 1940 and later returned to South Australia. He died from TB at his father’s home on 7 January 1944.
