Biography |
¶ Samuel and family settled in Newcastle until his wife's death in 1871. In December of 1877 he was advertising in the SMH his services as a portrait artist in Oils. Life size works at a cost of two pounds ten shillings. He was working from 283 Castlereagh Street Sydney. He then lived at 105 Clarence Street Sydney city with his middle daughter Annie M Boutcher (dressmaker). ¶ ¶ Samuel is noted in the Sand's Directories as being a signwriter. It was at this time, just before his death in 1883, that he came to attention at the Art Society of NSW and exhibited there. He is buried at Rookwood cemetery. |
