Stanley was an amateur photographer who lived in the Sydney colony up until 1860, when he advertised his stereoscopic camera for sale due to his forthcoming departure.
amateur photographer, addressed an advertisement to 'photographers & amateurs’ in the Sydney Morning Herald of 24 November 1860, offering a first-rate, half-plate view and stereoscopic camera for sale cheaply as he was about to leave the colony. His address was Clifton Boarding House, Jamison Street, Sydney.
