Benjamin Tannett was a noted theatrical scene-painter and actor working in Melbourne and Sydney in the mid nineteenth century. In 1859 Tannett painted 'new and beautiful scenery' for the burlesque at the Royal Victoria Theatre. It was 'acknowledged to be the greatest production that has ever been witnessed in the Colony'.
