Cartoonist and commercial artist, apparently worked for Smith’s Weekly during and after WWII. 'Enlist here join the Navy’ by 'B. Begg’ is among a group of Smith’s Weekly originals donated to the Mitchell Library in 1999 by a woman whose husband worked as a reporter on the paper, along with a copy of the final edition (28 October 1950) signed by all the cartoonists (PXD 840).

Bruce D. Begg won a Walkley Award in 1961 for his Sydney Morning Herald artwork (Boothroyd won the illustration Walkley and Rigby won the best cartoon). He won another Walkley in 1964 for his SMH artwork (Arthur E. McNeil of Woman’s Day won the illustration category and no award was made for a cartoon) and another in 1967 in the category of 'Press Artwork’ (with John P. Petersen of Woman’s Day getting the illustration one and Benier the cartooning award). The Art Gallery of Western Australian (AGWA) has four undated Bruce Begg originals, apparently political cartoons of the 1960s acquired from the Sun-Herald proprietors.
