Bruno Benini was born in Italy in 1925. He migrated from Italy with his parents in 1935.

Benini studied Science at Melbourne Technical College (now RMIT)and then worked briefly for General Motors Holden. He returned to Italy in the 1940s, which influenced his photographic pursuits. On returning to Australia he worked as a receptionist and salesman for photographer Henry Talbot at the Peter Fox studios. He also modeled for Helmut Newton, Athnol Shmith and Henry Talbot.

Benini’s fashion photography captured the works of many Australian and international fashion designers. Benini’s wife, Hazel also worked in the fashion industry as a fashion publicist, stylist and display manager – the pair regularly worked together.

Benini’s is represented in the collection of the Powerhouse Museum, Sydney, NSW.
