Warlpiri artist who lives in Lajamanu (NT) and is best known for his unusually restricted palette - often simply white and brown on black. He has been painting since 1986.
Born c.1940 in the Central Tanami, his language/tribe is Warlpiri and country Yinapalku. His Dreamings are Turlturlypa, Ngayaki (Bush Tomato) and Yarla (Yam). He lives at Lajamanu and sometimes works with his wife, Marlene Johnson. He started painting in 1986. His powerful paintings are unusual for their restricted palette – often white and brown on black.
