Charles E. Hern was a painter. He worked in New South Wales and then lived in London. Hern instructed the daughters of King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra.
painter, worked for many years in NSW, then lived in London where he was instructor in water colours to the daughters of the then Prince and Princess of Wales (later King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra). AGNSW holds his watercolours, The Upper Harbour, Whitby , purchased London 1886, and Near Fulham Docks (Early Morn) , purchased London 1888 (AGNSW cat 1926, p.96). Hern died in London in 1894.
