professional photographer, worked as a photographic artist in Auckland, New Zealand, before joining Messrs Freeman & Prout at Sydney in 1867. Holmes started his own business in 1868 at 33 South Head Road, in rooms formerly occupied by Croft Brothers. He was listed in Sydney the following year, but not thereafter.
