sketcher and solicitor, made various pencil drawings in Tasmania, including Gellibrand’s Point, New Town, Van Diemen’s Land (1839, Hocken Library, Dunedin NZ). Rowlands is thought to have perished in the wreck of the Monumental City in 1861.
