Cynthia Verspaget’s artistic practice has traversed new-media and bio-art projects. Her works have aimed to challenge ideas of ownership, and have often focused on themes around spatial ownership and connections and the culturing and circulation of cell tissue. In 2003/2004 she was a resident at SymbioticA art/science research laboratory at the University of Western Australia. Her work at this time explored the dehumanisation of the body in science and the ethics surrounding bio-commerce, gender and more. Some of this work was exhibited at 'Biodifference’, at the 2004 Biennale of Electronic Arts Perth (BEAP).

Verspaget holds an honours degree in Fine arts from Curtin University and a diploma of Visual Arts from Victoria.
