Born at Mbunghara Creek c.1936 of the Anmatyerre language group, Daisy was living at Narwietooma station with her husband Tim Leura , then a stockman, when the building program at Papunya was commenced. Later they moved to Papunya. The couple had six children, and Daisy now has many grandchildren. Daisy’s husband, who was one of the first and finest artists of the movement, taught her to paint. She was one of the first women to paint for Papunya Tula Artists in her own right. Daisy always felt very strongly that women should paint only secular themes from the women’s sphere and worried to see some of the younger women painting stories of which traditionally it was not proper for women to know. She lives in Papunya, where she is one of the senior women of the community.
