professional photographer, had 'Portrait Rooms’ at 29 Bourke Street, East Melbourne, by 1866 when he exhibited photographs at the Melbourne Intercolonial Exhibition. Wood’s Portrait Rooms were at 41 Collins Street West in 1866 68, then at Collins Street East until at least the end of the century. His home address, Bank Street (1866) then Park Street (from 1867) at Emerald Hill (South Melbourne), was the same as John Wood's, presumably his father.
