One of the three Burkitt sisters, who were active practitioners, teachers and patrons in the promotion of twentieth-century design in Sydney. Through her teaching and her sister Marion Best's shop, she had a pivotal role in nurturing the growth of young artists such as Ann Gyngell and Marea Gazzard. Her influence extended through her contribution to art criticism in Sydney.
silversmith, painter, textile designer, mural artist, window dresser, interior designer, journalist, lecturer and teacher, was very active from the 1920s to the 1970s.
