Born in the late 1930s of the Umpila language group of Lockhart River, Cape York, Queensland, Dorothy Short works as a weaver creating coolamons, and dillybags using grasses, shells and seeds from around her country. Her work is held in the permanent collection of the Queensland Museum and in 2001 she won first prize for weaving at the Laura Festival.
