Duncan Korkatain was born in Aurukun in Queensland where he lived in the Mission dormitories. His carved milkwood sculptures are often used in community ceremonies and in 2006 they featured in the 'Gatherings II' exhibition at the Queensland Art Gallery.

Duncan Korkatain was born in Aurukun in Queensland where he lived in the Mission dormitories. He left Aurukun to work as a ringer on cattle stations in Mt Isa and Normanton returning to live in Aurukun in 1978 only when the town ceased operating as a Mission. His carved milkwood sculptures are often used in community ceremonies and in 2006 they featured in the 'Gatherings II’ exhibition at the Queensland Art Gallery.
