Darton, china painter, was born in Victoria and studied art there. Soon after she was married her husband was killed in a riding accident and she came to Western Australia to join her sister Ellen Hodgson in c1924 . They lived in 8th avenue Maylands, in East Street and in Kirkamill Terrace in Perth. By 1931 she was a student of Flora Landells at her Maylands School of Art. She exhibited in the 1931 exhibition organized by Flora in the Industries Hall in Barrack Street, Perth. When Lottie Lapsley, Mrs Irving died in 1936 Edith Darton taught china painting at the Young Women’s Christian Association. There is a lovely lustre compote/vase in a private collection in Perth. Her niece was Mattie Hodgson who ran a photographic studio.
