Sketcher, went to work on her brothers’ property on the Macleay in the late 1840s, where she drew scenes of life on the property. As Mrs J. H. Young, she wrote two detailed accounts of her life on the Macleay: 'Ninety Years Ago’, Sydney Mail 8 December 1926 (copy Macleay River Historical Society), and 'Further Reminiscences’ n.d. (Royal Australian Historical Society – Red M166).
