cartoonist and caricaturist, drew cartoons in the Australian (News Ltd) for years before moving to the Sydney Daily Telegraph . He is still an illustrator for News Ltd. His work has also been published in Inside Sport . 'Cube’ ( Daily Telegraph 24 May 1997) and 'Howard’s 10 point plan’ (3 May 1997) were exhibited in Bringing the House Down: 12 Months of Australian Political Humour (Canberra: National Museum of Australia/ Old Parliament House exhibition, 1997), cats 29, 83. He also had 2 cartoons in the 2001 show (and presumably those in between).

A member of the Black and White Artists’ Club, Lobbecke won the 1994 Stanley for Best Symbolic Illustrator and was nominated for Artist of the Year in 1996 (won by Bill Leak ). Won the 1999 and 2001 Bald Archies (cartoon parodies of the Archibald Prize). Illustrated Jean Norman’s Cats are Better than Dogs (Harper Collins, 1997) and has published a children’s book of his own. A selection of his original (coloured) cartoons and caricatures were in Sketches Bar, Treasury Building, Sydney, from at least 1998 to 2000.
