Ethel Gordon was a china painter and pastel artist. She was a student of Flora Landells at the Methodist Ladies College in Perth circa 1917-20 and they became good friends. Ethel also studied at the Maylands School of Art. Pastel portraits were her fort_. She exhibited china painting with Flora in the 1931 exhibition held at Industries Hall in Perth. Around 1936 she married real estate developer Cyril Peet. They had two daughters, one of which is the printmaker Rosemary Mostyn who was Flora Landell’s goddaughter. The Peets travelled regularly and Ethel appears to have given up her art to support her busy husband.
