Born in 1940 of the Marri-A-Mmau clan of the Daly River in the Northern Territory, Ethel Sambo was living in North Queensland in 2007. She works in a variety of media including oil, synthetic polymer paint and watercolours on canvas, board and paper. Her works talk of her grandmother’s stories, taught to her as a child. Sambo’s work was featured in the 2001 “Gatherings, Contemporary Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art from Queensland, Australia” exhibition in Brisbane.
