Photography is the dominant portrait medium of our time. The National Photographic Portrait Prize is an important aspect of the Gallery’s exhibition program, reflecting the distinctive vision of Australia’s aspiring and professional portrait photographers and the unique nature of their subjects.

With the generous support of Visa, the National Portrait Gallery is offering a prize of $25,000 for the most outstanding photographic portrait.

The National Photographic Portrait Prize 2011 will be displayed at the National Portrait Gallery from 25 February – 26 April 2011. The exhibition will then tour to four venues in Western Australia and Victoria:

26 January 2012 – 25 March 2012

The National Photographic Portrait Prize learning resource can be downloaded from the learning section of this website.
