Painter and former art teacher who was born in Holland. Fussell received a Fine Art Diploma from East Sydney Technical College in 1967 and has been living in the Hunter Valley since the mid 1970s.
Born in Holland in 1947, Fussell studied full time at East Sydney Technical College from 1963 until 1967 when she was awarded a Fine Art Diploma. After graduating Fussell worked as an art teacher with the NSW Education Department and then as an illustrator/graphic designer with the Teaching Resourses Centre before travelling overseas. Returning to Australia in 1975, she settled in Pokolbin in the NSW Hunter Valley where she has been painting ever since, though in the early 1980s she worked briefly weaving rugs and tapestries.
Working mainly in oils, Fussell’s vibrant still life & flower paintings have won her many awards. Recently she has been working on a series of abstracts using geometric shapes and layering of textures. The love of colour and design that nature provides is a lifetime of inspiration.
