Australian-born American cartoonist and illustrator. Nankivell studied art in Japan before settling in San Francisco where he published a fortnightly magazine, 'Chic'.

After working for the San Francisco Call , Examiner and Chronicle , Nankivell moved to New York in 1896 and made a name for himself as a staff artist on Puck . Later he turned to painting and etching.
