landscape painter, showed Landscape, Luggellaw and View of Howth, near Dublin at the Victorian Fine Arts Society’s exhibition in 1853, being listed in the catalogue as a resident artist of St Kilda, Melbourne. Fowler possibly came to Victoria from Ireland, having at some stage travelled the Pacific. In 1862 he contributed two Irish landscapes, both oils, to the Annual Exhibition of Fine Arts in Melbourne, as well as three watercolours: Ne Cuba Cuba, (or the Soul-Destroyer) Point Island of Veti Leon, Figi Group , The Town of Apia, Samoa, Navigator Islands and View at Nuafoou, or Good Hope Island, in the Tonga or Friendly Island Group .
